Project: Bespoke Rail Industry awareness and induction module design & delivery
Clients: 2 major UK infrastructure maintenance companies.

The design and delivery of a week-long rail industry awareness and induction programme for new entrants into the UK heavy rail infrastructure maintenance environment.

The programme included relevant rail industry information and terminology, an overview of the industry and how it is structured, managed and regulated. It also included health & safety implications of working in a safety critical industry, including the practical use of safety critical communications protocols, basic railway operating principles and basic signalling principles.

The programme also included elements of team working, related to the infrastructure maintenance environment.

Project: Bespoke competence assessment documentation to align to existing maintenance specifications
Clients: A European light-rail / tramway rolling stock maintenance company

The drafting of bespoke assessment documentation to record competence assessment data for a range of professional traction and rolling stock maintenance engineers working on modern light-rail tramway vehicles.
Project: Management of a company learning & development function
Clients: A major UK Train Operating Company

Interim management of the Learning and Development function for the TOC, including all aspects of the training cycle, generation of L&D specific management information for Executive level and the execution of several significant projects to meet compliance requirements.
Project: Development and delivery of a competence assessment and quality assurance process
Clients: A major UK Train Operating Company and an Infrastructure Controller Organisation

Development of bespoke competence assessment training workshops and learning materials for the development of in-company competence assessors, linking their role directly to the requirements of National Standards for Assessment (Unit A1). The project also required the development of a bespoke Company Standard to create a benchmark standard against which to measure the competence of in-company quality assurance roles that cannot provide sufficient evidence to meet the National Standards for verification.
Project: Authoring of material for rail operator franchise bid submissions
Clients: A major European Transport Company

The authoring of specific sections of franchise bids in line with the requirements of official bidding documentation. Also the provision of expert HRD advice and guidance to franchise bidder in relation to the franchise bid.
Project: The development of a competence management system (CMS)
Clients: A major UK Port Authority

The analysis of in-company competence management and the development of a bespoke competence management system to provide the Authority with a system to accurately measure the current competence of key operational roles in the business.

Outputs from the assessment process have been directly mapped to National Occupational Standards for the sector involved.
